Senior Meals Program Supported with Hospital Partnership

Mary Greeley Medical Center
Ames, IA

Mary Greeley Medical Center and Heartland Senior Services in Ames have combined their respective strengths to better serve Story County residents who have meals delivered to their homes.

In January 2017, the two organizations launched a new partnership called Meals on Wheels of Story County. All clients of Mary Greeley and Heartland’s respective home-delivered meals programs are served under the partnership. All meals are prepared by Mary Greeley Medical Center’s Dietetic Services. Heartland oversees meal distribution through volunteers who deliver the meals.

Meals on Wheels involves more than delivering healthy food to residents. It also provides an important opportunity to check on the welfare of clients and, if necessary, report concerns to Mary Greeley or Heartland officials.

In this video, Mary Greeley Medical Center President and CEO Brian Dieter joins Heartland Outreach Specialist Andrea Buchele to deliver meals to a few of the Ames residents as part of Meals on Wheels of Story County.
