Drive-Thru Flu Protection from Jefferson Hospital

Drive-Thru Flu Protection from Jefferson Hospital

Greene County Medical Center
Jefferson, IA

In 2017, for the third year in a row, Greene County Medical Center’s public health staff offered “drive-thru” flu clinics. These clinics are done out in the community – in the parking lot areas of a church or at the county fairgrounds, making it convenient for staff to have both indoor supply space and be accessible for vehicles. This convenient clinic format means folks needing a flu shot can get one – without even leaving their cars.

“You can drive thru on your way to or from work, school or shopping,” said Laine Custer, public health nurse.  “This is helpful for those who have trouble getting in and out of a car or have trouble walking a distance – we’ll bring the shot to your car door!”

In the fall of 2017, 40 flu shots were given to community members at the drive-by-flu clinics.
