Cancer Survivors Celebrated at Popular Jefferson Hospital Event

Greene County Medical Center
Jefferson, IA

Every April when Greene County’s Relay for Life event takes place, you’ll find Greene County Medical Center hosting the “Survivor Reception.”

Cancer survivors throughout the county receive a special invitation to attend a morning reception, receive a free survivor t-shirt (compliments of the medical center) and are honored during a traditional survivor walk. The walk has all survivors treading a pathway with event attendees on both sides cheering them on. It’s a heartwarming and moving event for all.

Some survivors have attended for years, with new ones attending for the first time each year.  The t-shirts have become a badge of courage and are coveted by survivors year after year. Local media also attend to take the annual survivor photo shared in local newspapers and news websites.
